Welcome to the first WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY of 2019! Weigh In Wednesday details the best (and worst) ways to lose weight and get fitter. Here I will discuss my progress in my weight loss journey and hopefully, you will join me in becoming fitter and healthier in 2019!
I’m going to be real with you right off the bat. I am nervous, anxious and a little bit excited. Mainly because I will be listing my weight and measurements and this means it’s time to commit to my goal here!
However, I am highly optimistic that this has great potential to become a fantastic community and will be of help to you on your weight loss journey.
It should be fairly obvious if you have followed Geez Louise or read any of my other posts that I am finally taking full accountability for my weight management. In a conscious effort to lose weight and become fitter in 2019, I have started Weigh-In Wednesday.
This starts with full honesty. Being honest with myself and honest with you so that we can ace our weight loss together.
So you might be wondering why I’m making such a big deal out of this?
It’s hardly a big deal to lose weight and typically when people talk about something so much they end up talking themselves out of doing what they know they should do.
Well, it’s simple. I’ve written about how I have struggled with my weight my entire life, and if I keep going on the same path NOTHING will change.
Ways to lose weight over the festive holiday period
OK so here’s where the honesty starts.
While I have tried to keep a good diet and workout regime through December, it has proven to be a little tricky. This is due to the inevitable parties, drinks and of course, festive feasts.
I didn’t have much hope of maintaining my weight in December let alone losing any weight. Hence why I waited until January to begin Weigh-In Wednesday properly.
Ways to lose weight through meal planning
I found the best way to track my meals and exercise throughout December (around the parties and festive meals) was by using this amazing meal planner.
I created my meal planner so that I had a foolproof way to plan out my meals for the week ahead and also to make sure I commit to exercising. It has really helped me keep on top of my health and wellness while leading a busy life.

What will Weigh-In Wednesday Consist Of?
You could argue that if I am that insecure about my weight I should take myself along to slimming world instead of posting my information on the internet. You would be right, I could do that. But I do think it’s worthwhile to share Weigh-In Wednesday with you for a few reasons.
I am sure Slimming World is beneficial because it is a community and support network that meet each week face to face. I haven’t actually tried slimming world myself so I cannot comment fully on the pros and cons.
However, I would rather take a longer more sustainable win, over a short term weekly loss of 1lb. I know far too many people who have a cheat night after their weigh-in which to me seems counterproductive.
Therefore, I will be weighing in less regularly which, to me, offers a better opportunity to gauge actual weight loss over a longer period of time and ensures that I won’t yo-yo. Ya know?
To coincide with weighing in, it’s also important to measure different areas of the body.
The number on the scale doesn’t always tell the full story.
We build muscle when we work out. Muscle is a lot denser than fat and although they weigh the same pound for pound, muscle takes up less space. Therefore, the number on the scale may not change but the measurements may alter dramatically.
Tracking both weight and measurements will help to avoid becoming discouraged by ‘lack of progress’ on the scales when it’s likely there are positive indicators elsewhere.
Makes sense right?
So here we go, below are my starting measurements for 2019. While they may be less than ideal, everyone has to start somewhere and that’s what this is. This is a start. A move in the right direction.
- Left arm: 13 Inches
- Right Arm: 13 Inches
- Left Thigh: 22.5 Inches
- Right Thigh: 23 Inches
- Chest: 42 Inches
- Waist: 38 Inches
- Hips: 46 Inches
Needless to say, I was a bit surprised when I stepped on the scales. Surprised for two reasons.
- The figure on the scale startled me. I’m not sure why since I had weighed myself in August and I was just as shocked then.
- I had maintained weight since August.
There was no change my in weight since my wedding or honeymoon (where I overindulged in Greek food). I hadn’t even pilled on the weight over Christmas even with the plethora of Christmas feasts. It was a mixed feeling if I’m honest.
- Kgs: 83.3
Obviously, this figure is also not great. Again, it is a starting point and hopefully one that will improve by this time next year!
Weigh In Wednesday: Road To Fitness
I’m on a mission now to become fitter, healthier and to lose weight in 2019. This is probably the heaviest and fattest that I’ve been in my life.
While I’m angry at myself for letting it get this far, I am filled with the positivity of a New Year and the prospects of achieving serious success.
On my road to fitness, I will be sharing more of my fitness routines through Fat To Fit Club and also key information on how the body reacts to different types of workouts.
I am aware that everyone is different. Our fitness levels will all be different and there may be some workouts that are not suitable for you. I will provide a variety of workouts so that everyone can join in. We are on this weight loss journey together.
