A while ago I posted about my eternal struggle to stay fit and healthy and also losing weight. I figured it was about time to write a follow-up to that post.
For a few months now, I have been trying to stay on the healthier side. I don’t always manage it but I am trying to make a conscious effort to eat better foods. During my lunch at work, I go for a 10-minute walk every day which is not amazing but it’s better than not going out at all. I find the fresh air clears my head during the day and prepares me for the afternoon.
So focusing on the positives so far, what are the staple ingredients of my diet? Well, a few of the things that I have stocked up on include:
- Spinach, Broccoli and Cabbage
- Peppers, Mushrooms and Onions
- Pak choi
- Sweet potato, butternut squash and Tomatoes
- Eggs and cheese
- Chicken, Mince (5% fat), and Beef
- Salmon, Mackerel and Haddock
It may not seem like a wide selection and I do mix things up a bit, but actually, you can make a pretty impressive variety of recipes with just some of the ingredients listed above. And don’t worry, I will be uploading my recipes to the blog so that you can try them too. Don’t forget to let me know what you think!
I have been using MyFitnessPal to document what I am eating so that A) I don’t go overboard with the calories and B) I don’t overindulge on junk food. I also find it a very useful app to keep track of macros (amount of Carbs, Fat and Protein consumed in each meal).
I’ll admit, the one element that I’m struggling with is working out. I know it’s sheer laziness on my part but by the time I get home I am a bit brain dead. I know working out will more than likely solve the brain dead problem but my motivation isn’t great at the moment. I need to work on this.
So making positive, proactive steps I’m hoping this bombshell will give me a boot up the backside to get moving… I am now coining Wednesday’s as:
Yup. Quite possibly my worst nightmare but I’m curious to see what differences I can make to my body. So not only will I be weighing in but I’ll be measuring myself because honestly, I don’t know if I’m jaded or what not but I don’t necessarily trust scales. You could lose 1 or 2lbs just by going to the toilet so it doesn’t seem overly reliable to me.
Anyway, 1st Wednesday of the month will be Weigh-In Wednesday. I have decided to do it monthly because I’d rather see better changes and better results in my body over a longer period of time than small fluctuations week to week. I also don’t want to get obsessed with weighing or measuring myself as it’s not really about the numbers for me.
Anyway, if anyone should like to join me on Weigh-In Wednesday, then hit me up in the comments or get in touch on Facebook!
